I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Binghamton University in August 2015. I have clinical experience in various settings, including community mental health centers, hospitals, primary care practices, and residential care facilities. I have also spent several years working in elementary school classrooms, both traditional and those for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other developmental disorders.
I have experience assessing concerns commonly encountered in childhood, such as ASD, ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and behavioral problems. I believe that assessment not only informs treatment but can function as a kind of treatment in and of itself. I realize that testing can be a stressful proposition for children and families. To help lower stress during testing, I always try to take a thoughtful and warm approach during the experience, as we work together to identify concerns and create a plan for addressing them.
As a therapist, my goal is to provide well-researched interventions to my clients, delivered in a collaborative and compassionate style. I’m a bit of a nerd by nature, and my training involved a strong grounding in clinical science, so you can trust that whatever treatment approaches we discuss will be grounded in what we know typically works for children. However, I am not a “one-size-fits-all” clinician. I believe a supportive and validating working relationship, where you feel heard, is an essential component of real change. I am comfortable treating a wide-range of presenting concerns, with expertise in addressing anxiety disorders, mood disorders, and social concerns in children.
In terms of personal background, I grew up in the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York and attended both undergraduate and graduate school at Binghamton University. I completed my predoctoral internship at the University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) in Rochester, NY, before moving onto a postdoc in Walnut Creek, CA. My husband and I then moved to Fort Collins after hearing rave reviews regarding the overall quality of life from friends and family living in the area. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, cooking, and tabletop games.
